Danny Burnley, a veteran pastor and church revitalization consultant, has published a new book designed to aid struggling congregations: “Excommunicated: 11 Steps to Church Revitalization.”
More than 40 years ago, Burnley was formally disassociated — excommunicated, in effect — from his home church. His “crime”? As a young deacon, he went to the pastor and asked him to prayerfully consider holding a reconciliation service to help heal the ongoing friction that existed between the pastor and the deacons.
Dismissal from his church’s fellowship was “the worst thing and the best thing” that had happened to him. It was the worst thing because it was like a divorce that tore apart a family, but it was the best thing because it ignited in Burnley a God-given desire to help struggling churches, which he has been busy doing for the last four decades.
In “Excommunicated,” Burnley offers the lessons he has learned in helping churches battle against ineffectiveness. Through his ministry, he has helped bring churches back from the brink of closure.
“Danny Burnley, endowed and proven by God, knows what it takes to lead a sick and dying church back to vitality,” says Aubert Rose, a retired church growth evangelist.
“Excommunicated” is available in paperback and hardback versions ($13.95 and $17.95, respectively, plus $3.50 shipping) and may be purchased directly from the author at 864-918-3386, by email at dannyb@churchrc.com, or at the author’s website, churchrc.com. The book is also available at Amazon.com.
Burnley is the author of a previous book, “Spiritual Strokes: Heeding the Warning Signs from the Great Physician.”
