Retired Southern Baptist missionary Harry T. Bush brings to life the sounds, sights and culture of Southeast Asia in an illustrated new book, “Family Devotions from Indonesia.”

The author invites readers to join him, his wife and their three small children on the mission field for 30 days of family devotions. Readers will laugh with the Bush family as they make mistakes in their new language and cry with them over the depth of spiritual lostness confronting them every day.

“This is an excellent first book to begin one’s family devotional practice,” said Bush. Each chapter contains an account of an event on the mission field, questions, Scripture reading, suggestions for prayer, and an activity for children. The book is illustrated by Tammi Lempas, whom the Bushes’ describe as their “heart-adopted” Indonesian granddaughter.

After readers have lived with the Bushes for a month, the author hopes they will support missionaries in prayer and offerings. He prays some readers may also experience a “total life change” and surrender to becoming a missionary.

Harry and Barbara Bush served for more than three decades as Southern Baptist missionaries in South and Southeast Asia. He is the author of a previous book, “Walking with Giants: The New Testament Fleshed Out Through 20 Asian Servants of God.”

“Courier Publishing exists as an arm of the Baptist Courier to put biblically sound books in the hands of pastors and churches to equip them to be faithful stewards of the gospel and the inspired, inerrant, Word of God for this generation and those to come.”
